How to Care for Your Leather Ruk Can

Your Ruk Can combines anodized aluminum with genuine leather. Use a soft, dry cloth for routine care and a gentle touch around the leather texture and lid.

Wipe the leather gently

Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to remove surface dust. Wipe lightly across the embossed surface rather than scrubbing into the pattern. Croc, snake and ostrich finishes are embossed genuine leather; their pattern and placement vary from can to can.

Clean the aluminum and lid surfaces

Use a damp towel to wipe the inside and bottom of the can, then dry them thoroughly before use. Keep moisture away from the leather exterior. Keep the rim and lid-contact surfaces clear of loose debris. Lift the lid straight off and set it back evenly after use.

Keep the routine gentle

  • Avoid abrasive pads, strong solvents and soaking the can.
  • Direct sunlight can heat the aluminum can. Prolonged sunlight or heat exposure can alter the leather’s color and appearance and may cause it to shrink. Leather is a natural material; store your can in a cool, dry place away from prolonged direct sunlight and direct heat.
  • If the exterior becomes damp, blot gently with a dry cloth and let it air-dry at room temperature, away from direct heat.
  • A leather conditioner can be applied, but it may darken some leather. Test a small, inconspicuous area first, use a small amount, and follow the conditioner manufacturer’s directions. Keep conditioner off the aluminum and lid-contact surfaces.
